About us

About us

Most of us got tired of the same thing. You buy hunting gear for deer season, hiking gear for the weekend, range gear for Saturdays, and suddenly you've got a closet full of bags that each do one thing. It adds up fast, and half of it sits untouched for eleven months of the year.

That's the problem a few of us couldn't stop thinking about. We're the same guys who grew up hunting with their dads, still make time for the range, and wouldn't trade a good trail for much. But we weren't just frustrated with the cost, we were frustrated with the quality.

Gear that looked capable but wasn't built to last. Designs that solved for one scenario and ignored the other three. Nobody was actually engineering for the guy who does more than one thing.

So we fixed it. Stonewall was built from the ground up around a simple standard: every piece of gear has to perform across multiple real-world scenarios before it earns a place in our lineup. That meant rethinking materials, rethinking construction, and refusing to cut corners where it actually matters: weather resistance, durability, fit under pressure. The result is gear that doesn't just cross over between activities. It outperforms the single-use stuff on its own turf.

Small American team, no corporate layers, no brand markup padding someone else's margins. Just better gear, built for guys who don't have time for equipment that lets them down.

Welcome to Stonewall. Built for more than one thing — and better at all of them.

The 17 pockets are a game changer. I can carry my pliers, line cutters, and tackle all in dry, easy-reach spots. No more digging through a wet bag on the boat. — Mike T., Florida
  • You left the water early because the cold won

  • You came home soaked — your jacket gave up before you did

  • You felt the wind cut through — jacket looked warm, did nothing on the water

  • You missed the moment fumbling through a bag for something that should've been on you

  • You couldn't cast clean — jacket too stiff, too bulky, too much in the way

Every one of those is a gear problem. Not a fisherman problem. The Vanguard was built to end all five.

Most Generic Gear Fails You By Hour Three.

You showed up before sunrise. You put in the work. The only thing that sent you home early was the gear you trusted.

HERE'S WHAT NOBODY TELLS YOU.

That wasn't a bad day out there.

Your gear made that decision for you.

The guys who stayed? Same cold. Same rain. Same conditions. Better gear.

Generic outdoor gear is built for the store shelf. Not for hour four when the temperature drops and it actually matters.

You showed up. You put in the work. Your gear quit.

That ends here.

THIS IS THE GEAR THAT KEEPS YOU ON THE WATER UNTIL THE FISH STOP BITING.

HYBRITEX™ — THE FABRIC THAT BROKE THE COMPROMISE.

Seven seasons. Real water. Real weather. Prototypes soaked, cast in, and worn until they failed — then rebuilt until nothing did.

One fabric. Three jobs. Quiet. Waterproof. Warm. Most gear forces you to pick two. The Vanguard doesn't.

This is what that means on the water:

15,000mm waterproof shell → The weather doesn't send you home. Rain. Spray. Pre-dawn dew. None of it gets through.

Fleece-lined interior → Warm from the first cast to the last. Holds heat without bulk. Cold mornings don't end your session.

Silent stretch softshell → Cast without announcing yourself. Dead quiet. Nothing that spooks fish when you move.

17 waterproof tactical pockets → Everything where your hand drops. Pliers, cutters, phone, tackle — stop fumbling. Stay on the fish.

Reinforced knees and elbows → Built for the ground you fish on. Boat decks, creek banks, wet rock. Built to take it.

The moment your gear pulls your focus off the water — the fish wins. The Vanguard set makes sure that never happens.

They were skeptical too

I'm catching more fish
I am on the water before sunrise three times a week from March through November. Most jackets are either too warm by 9am or not warm enough at 5am. This one somehow handles both. I stopped thinking about whether I was comfortable and started thinking about where the fish were. That is the whole point.

Professional and performs well
I guide walleye on Lake Erie. Clients expect me to look professional and perform in conditions most people would not fish in. This jacket does both. Does not look like I am wearing a rain poncho. Does not restrict me when I am netting a fish or helping a client with a tangle. And I have never once been wet underneath it. That matters when you are on the water for 10 hours.

A worthy gift
I fished in the same Carhartt for 15 years. Did not think I needed anything different. My son bought me this for my birthday and I wore it once to humor him. That was 6 months ago. The Carhartt has not left the closet since. Silent on the water, warm in the morning, and I can carry everything I need without a tackle bag. I told my son he finally got me a gift I actually use.

Good quality for the price!!
I bought this for fishing but honestly I wear it three or four times a week just running errands, heading to the gym, grabbing coffee. It just looks like a good jacket (I don't always wear the pants). The pockets mean I leave my backpack at home most days. Phone, wallet, keys, airpods, everything on me. Good quality for the price and it holds up very well.

Silent enough for succesful hunts
Pockets are insane. Fit everything I carry on the water without thinking about it. Fabric feels premium, not cheap synthetic. Runs a little snug but honestly that ended up being a good thing. Moves better than any fishing jacket I have owned. No bulk. No restriction. Just fits right once you are in it.

Happy wife happy life
My wife and I fish together every weekend from spring through fall. She always complained about carrying a separate bag for all the small stuff. Bought us both a set and that bag has not come off the boat since. Everything fits in the pockets and we can just focus on fishing. Bonus is it does not look like we are dressed for a military exercise. Wore them to a waterfront restaurant after a morning on the water and did not feel out of place at all. Practical and presentable at the same time.

Don't Let Bad Gear Ruin Your Next Session.

The fish are still biting when most guys go home. The only difference is the gear they're wearing.

Vanguard worn by 50,000+ serious men

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The Vanguard set fits true to size with a regular, active cut. Initially it can be a bit snug, but it adjusts over time. Choose the size you normally wear. If you are between sizes or plan to add thicker mid-layers for early morning or offshore trips, go up one size. For heavy layering in extreme cold, some anglers prefer going up two sizes. Check the size chart for exact chest, shoulder, and sleeve measurements.

Yes. The fleece lining is soft, the cut allows natural movement in the shoulders and arms for casting and netting, and the cuffs and drawcords help you dial in the fit over base and mid-layers. It is designed to be warm without feeling bulky or restrictive, so you can fish all day without discomfort.

No. The membrane blocks wind, rain, and spray while allowing body heat and moisture to vent. It keeps you warm during the slow periods and stays breathable when you're casting, fighting fish, or moving around the boat.

Yes. The Vanguard is built on Hybritex™ — a stretch-woven softshell with a sealed 15,000mm PU membrane that was developed specifically for hard field and water use. Water-protected zippers and a DWR outer coating work together to seal out driving rain, ocean spray, and wet conditions. The detachable hood, wind-blocking cuffs, and fully weatherproof shell keep you dry whether you're in a sudden squall or dealing with constant spray on the boat.

It is built for colder conditions and tested to perform in 23 °F / –5 °C. The Hybritex™ fleece-backed inner layer traps heat without adding too much bulk, making it ideal for pre-dawn launches, cold fronts, and all-day winter fishing trips.

The Hybritex™ outer shell resists wear, abrasions, saltwater, and UV damage, with reinforced seams and stainless steel zippers built for hard use. Fish slime, salt spray, and constant movement won't break it down. With normal use and basic care, the Vanguard set is designed to last many seasons and become a long-term staple in your fishing kit.

Yes. It works equally well for offshore charters, inshore flats fishing, kayak fishing, and freshwater bank fishing. The waterproof Hybritex™ shell handles ocean spray and rain, the silent fabric won't spook fish in shallow water, and the 17 pockets keep your essential tackle accessible no matter where you're fishing.

The pockets are designed for real fishing use: pliers, line cutters, leader spools, hooks and terminal tackle, small lure boxes, phone (stays dry), fishing license, multi-tool, GPS, snacks, keys, and wallet. The zippered chest pocket is perfect for high-value items, while the cargo pockets handle bulkier gear. Everything stays organized and waterproof.
